0-60 in 3 seconds...maybe not!?!?!

So I made it back from overseas, AND my mother in laws cooking, which I just have to say is WELL WORTH the airfare...but didnt lose anything this time!

Not surprising since it rained for 1/2 the time AND I contracted a stomach virus. I was pretty much homebound and usually we do ALOT of walking.

I have however managed to lose 6lbs. in the last 3 weeks since we returned. No, not what I am used to, but dropping 75lbs in 5 months on Metabolife isnt exactly the right way to reach long term goals!

Now we returned on a wednesday and that Saturday I "competed" in my 2nd 5k...which gets me to this posts topic!

After the first one, I was laid up for a few days but I assumed it was because I just wasnt use to that type of extended excercise..OK, OK...ANY EXCERCISE!

After #2 I have come to the conclusion that maybe my dad is right! Its PROBABLY not a good idea to start jogging 5k's when your 115lbs overweight. I am sure someone has a formula out there, but i think its something like 3,000lbs of pressure on those knees and ankles of mine.

Maybe not QUITE that much, but you get the point!

So whats a girl, or man,to do?!?!

I have developed this new love for 5ks, not for my treadmill mind you, but I cant do them now! I DESTROYED my left knee on that last one to the point that a 15 minute session on the treadmill laid me up for nearly a week and I still have not come back from it. I seem to have lost some rotation ability in the knee.

I am afraid if i dont participate in #3 (the TURKEY TROT) on Thanksgiving, I will lose that drive.

When those of us that are battling this disease, and believe me, it IS a disease, decide to make that all important leap for our health, its important to remember that our bodies ARE NOT READY for us to be sleek, fast Lamborginis...they are BIG, old, boxy Cargo vans!!!

Its gonna take awhile to warm up and get out of the driveway!! And even then we are going to have to do some MAJOR work to get us running like new!

I guess the only thing to do for now is pop some ibuprofen, jump on that treadmill, and pray to god the ice works after....

Wish me luck!!!
